Asbestos Time Bomb in Bangladesh

This report is a field assessment study on asbestos and the the extent of its use in the country bringing to attention to the gravity of the situation in countries like Asia and the building time bomb in the region with regards to asbestos use.



Just a 3 minute ride in a motorbike from the other side of Buriganga bridge from Dhaka city inside Basundhara River View project. Look to your left and you will find big new ships are being built. Hundreds of workers are busy with the shipbuilding. Thanks to the ship building industry, Bangladesh is building new ships that  fulfills its domestic needs and exporting to Western countries. But what are western countries exporting to Bangladesh. The list is long and in many cases important for Bangladesh economy. But the list includes name the dreaded carcinogen asbestos.
